about

‘Winter Deep’ was written on a Midsummer day, walking by the local canal. Fragments of an unusual peal of church bells were blowing around in the (cold) wind and these snippets of circling melody inspired the vocal line.

This song has been played on the Tom Robinson show on BBC6 Music, picked for the Introducing Mixtape and was voted through by the public onto Fresh Faves at Fresh on the Net.

'a shimmering timeless quality' Von Pip

'absolutely gorgeous' Tom Robinson

‘Arresting sleepy headed woozy baroque folk dreaminess..... spell crafting all manner of enchantment’ – the sunday experience

lyrics

Winter deep is this secret I keep
Thorns catch at my clothes
And some want to knock me down

But I know how many are the stars
But I know how many are the stars
When I see your face

Silent blackbird on midsummer day
In roses in ruins from days of rain
And who knows when
I’ll be wanted again

But I know how many are the stars
But I know how many are the stars
When you touch me

I’m bound by this dream
Always more hidden than seen
I’m wayward with my time
I fight it or it’s never quite mine
Bound by this dream

Always more hidden than seen

But I know how many are the stars
When you touch me

How many are the stars
